The course treats discrimination as a social phenomenon. Given this perspective, the course first considers several theoretical treatments of causes and/or definitions of discrimination. Next, multiple strategies for determining whether discrimination exists and for calibrating effects of any discrimination found are introduced. The course concludes with a critical exploration of potential policy responses to discrimination.
