The objective of this course is to provide the Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) student with an understanding of the fundamental cellular and molecular processes that underlie clinical, surgical, autopsy, and forensic pathology. Optimum performance of the grossing skill sets that are learned later in the program, in the practicums, and are best performed by understanding the basic principles involved in the pathogenesis of human disease.
