The capstone practicum in Clinical Medical Genomics gives clinical-stream students in the Medical Genomics program the opportunity to explore in depth the applications of genomics in their clinical field, and to gain practical, hands-on experience in working with and interpreting genomic data in a clinical and/or research setting. During the practicum, students are expected to integrate and apply the theoretical concepts and skills they learned during the preceding 15 months of coursework in the Medical Genomics program. The clinical practicum is a generally self-directed placement in which clinical-stream students seek out a placement in an area related to their specific clinical interests, and work with a host organization / mentor for a 12- to 18-week period, focusing on a project in the field of Medical Genomics.
