The overarching issue for all leaders in health or education is how to drive the greatest value, achieving the best quality care, or student learning possible, within the financial constraints, and given the complexity of the health and education systems in which we work. Workforce capacity and capability is a huge component of being able to deliver value, and the culture and leadership environment to achieve this cannot be underestimated. Doing this work in partnership (in health) with patients, families, and communities, and (in education) with peer clinicians, students, and faculty, is a fundamental requirement of leaders today, requiring time and skills. NUR1301 provides an opportunity for students to explore their leadership beliefs, approach, and style, building on their strengths, as well as addressing weaknesses.
