This course is designed to give graduate students an understanding of basic concepts of molecular research approaches surrounding the use of recombinant DNA and related technologies in pharmacology research.
Students will comprehend current methodologies used for manipulation of cloned DNA; comprehend current methodologies used for quantitation of mRNA and protein; understand strategies used to generate recombinant protein and antibodies; understand premise of gene inactivation, and the focus will be on use and creation of transgenic / knockout cell lines/animals.
