This course provides an overview of the principles of leadership with a focus on leadership in the age of artificial intelligence. The 21st century workplace is characterized by frequent and rapid organizational change motivated by artificial intelligence among other political, economic, and global factors. The course will discuss leading in this environment, and consequently, ways in which the leadership role is evolving. One of the challenges that individuals face in their careers once they assume leadership roles is successfully transitioning to a mindset of leading others and understanding the priorities that leadership entails. Thus, the course will explore the challenges inherent in motivating group members, communicating effectively, managing individual and group performance, influencing and persuading group members, and organizational change management, among other topics.

The course will offer strategies to address these challenges. Further, leadership involves several skills. Consequently, in this course students will acquire awareness of their leadership skills and will develop a mindset focused on continuous development of these skills. The course takes an evidence-based approach to leadership. Thus, the class will discuss current and key scientific research on the topics covered in the course.
