This course examines the social dimensions of environmental problems, governance, and sustainability. Drawing on core traditions in environmental sociology, the course explores how environmental issues are shaped by political, economic, cultural, and institutional forces, including inequality, risk, expertise, and power. Topics may include climate change, environmental governance, consumption and production, social movements, and the relationship between society and nature. The course emphasizes both theoretical foundations and contemporary empirical research.
