DEN1741Y in conjunction with DEN1742Y provides residents with the fundamentals of medical knowledge and clinical decision-making skills that is essential for the safe administration of anaesthesia in dental and oral healthcare settings. Emphasis is placed on the integration of medical knowledge with anaesthetic practice to support patient assessment, risk stratification, perioperative management, and emergency response. The course bridges core medical principles with clinical anaesthesiology, focusing on medically complex dental patients across the lifespan.

In DEN1742Y residents will continue to develop proficiency in evaluating systemic diseases and understanding their implications for anaesthetic care, including neurologic, endocrine, renal, hepatic, and peripheral vascular disorders. The course also covers concepts in clinical pharmacology, drug interactions, perioperative medicine, and airway management.

Through problem-based and didactic learning, residents will strengthen their ability to recognize and manage medical emergencies, interpret laboratory and diagnostic findings, and develop effective life-long learning skills.
