Knowledge Translation (KT) is often considered part of the research process in health care and public health. Mainstream, institutional definitions of KT vary, but they generally involve communicating research results to different audiences to put "knowledge into action" through changes to practice or policy. This course aims to help knowledge workers assess research from various angles before this research is put into broad circulation. To accomplish this, the course explores how specific ideas about the world are embedded in mainstream research methods and communications, and the implications for the KT process. The course focuses on what is often termed "equity-focused" research, identifying damaging assumptions that are embedded in mainstream health research and that serve to entrench structural white advantage and structural racism.
This course can be used to fulfil the "Professional Values" Professional Requirement.
