LHA1145H: Community-Based Participatory Research: Theory and Methods [RM]

This course examines the theory and practice of conducting community-based participatory research — a collaborative research approach that equitably involves community members, researchers, and other stakeholders in the research process and recognizes the unique strengths that each brings. The course incorporates critical feminist, queer, anti-racist, and anti-colonial perspectives. In addition to readings, students will undertake a research project as part of the course requirement. It is recommended that students already be partnered/affiliated with a community-based organization or program to facilitate this project.
