This course will help students become better communicators (of their research) and to explore careers in Science Communication. Students will gain a better understanding of how to communicate science effectively to diverse audiences, in diverse mediums, and have opportunities to practice these skills through class participation and assignments. The course will build a foundational understanding of the skills needed to be an effective communicator of science and to succeed in a science communication-related career and how to position these skills in applying for jobs. Students will not only hone their own science communication skills in class, they will produce a piece of high-quality work that can be added to their portfolio when having to substantiate their communication skills in job applications.
