MUS3500H: Research and Communications in Composition

This course will focus on information and developing practical skills for all graduate composition students. The goal of the course is to cover a wide variety of topics which contribute to a composer's academic and professional career.

Topics covered will include: academic writing; basic research skills; creating a CV and bio; creating a teaching dossier; developing a philosophy of teaching; academic grant writing; professional grant writing; creating and curating concert programs; communicating with audiences; writing program notes; working and communicating with performers; the future of the arts and the role of the arts in our world; artificial intelligence and the future of art. Other topics may arise out of discussion in the course.
