This course gives direct-entry PhD students the opportunity develop the knowledge and skills they will need to complete a more ambitious research project that could eventually be part of their doctoral dissertation. In Year 1, students form a three-member faculty committee and develop their proposal. Students will defend the proposed project and complete a mini orals reading list in Year 1. They will then engage in data collection over the summer and through the fall of Year 2. They will write up and defend their Foundational Research Project in Year 2.
This continuous course will continuously roll over until a final grade or credit/no credit is entered.
