This course aims to present fundamental issues on Spanish bilingualism from three different perspectives: linguistic, sociolinguistic, psycholinguistic. The course aims to explore implications of linguistic theory for the study of bilingual populations. Activities include: analysis of typical language contact phenomena with materials from Spanish, case studies of Spanish in contact, evaluation of results on the psychological consequences of bilingualism, and conducting and reporting on an empirical study on a topic to be determined in consultation with the instructor.
