This course charts paths from genetic etiologies to clinical manifestations of a broad variety of genetic conditions affecting different body systems. Specialist lectures cover different pathologies using the principles of embryological development, dysmorphology, inborn errors of metabolism, and laboratory investigation and findings. Whenever possible, the path for the discussion begins at the genetic basis of the conditions, and goes on to cover clinical manifestations, impact of the condition on reproductive life, as well as options for prenatal diagnosis, and treatment through management and/or therapy. The primary goal of the lectures and discussions in this seminar is to bolster knowledge and provide additional tools for accurate genetic counselling. (Time: 2 sessions, 4 hours per week.)
