This course explores the theoretical and methodological foundations of psycholinguistics. The course surveys classical and contemporary theoretical frameworks and models used to understand the cognitive mechanisms underlying language comprehension and production alongside their empirical motivations. Topic areas covered include speech, the mental lexicon, parsing and sentence processing, meaning and context. Instruction in experimental design and data analysis methods are interwoven throughout the course.
