This course provides hands-on practical training in pediatric surgical pathology at SickKids Hospital. Students will gain experience in specimen handling, orientation, gross examination, dissection, and tissue processing under the supervision of certified pathologist assistants and clinical faculty. The course covers a wide range of pediatric and perinatal specimens, including lung, liver, kidney, bowel, soft tissue, lymph nodes, and autopsy specimens. Emphasis is placed on developing skills in gross examination and section selection, and understanding their importance in generating accurate pathology reports and supporting clinical decision-making.
