This course provides hands-on practical training in surgical pathology at St. Michael’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Students will develop skills in specimen handling, orientation, inking, gross examination, dissection, and tissue sampling under the supervision of certified pathologist assistants and clinical faculty. The course covers a broad range of adult surgical specimens, including gynecologic specimens, placentas, gastrointestinal, breast, genitourinary, lung, and hepatobiliary specimens. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gross examination and section selection in generating comprehensive pathology reports that support accurate diagnosis and clinical management.
