This 0.5 FCE practical training course provides hands-on experience in forensic autopsy pathology at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in North Toronto. Students will develop the knowledge and technical skills required to safely and effectively assist with coronial autopsies under the supervision of experienced pathologist assistants and forensic pathology staff. Through observation, guided practice, and progressive responsibility, learners will gain experience in autopsy procedures, including case preparation, body transfer, photography, specimen collection and handling, and post-examination processes. The course emphasizes multidisciplinary teamwork, professional practice, and the application of autopsy techniques in a large-scale death investigation setting, with exposure to a broad range of cases, from natural deaths to traumatic injuries.
