This is a one-term (0.5 FCE) lecture/seminar course meeting weekly for two hours. Together with the TA, the course coordinator develops the curriculum, assigns case studies and presentations, provides lectures and invites guest speakers. Candidates will gain a strong understanding of Best Practices in biobank operations from governance and ethics, to patient/donor identification and consent, to specimen collection, processing, storage and data annotations, to retrieval for use in research studies. They will also become familiar with facility requirements, staff training and quality management needed to optimally support biomedical research.
