LMP2209H: Practicum in Surgical Pathology V

This 0.5 FCE practical training course provides hands-on experience in surgical pathology at UHN Hospitals. Students will develop skills in specimen orientation, inking, dissection, gross examination, and tissue sampling under the supervision of certified pathologist assistants and clinical faculty. The course focuses on thoracic (lung, thymus, and pleura), endocrine (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands), and neurosurgical specimens, while also introducing other organ systems. Through supervised practical training, students will gain an understanding of the importance of gross examination and section submission in providing essential information for accurate pathology reporting and supporting clinical management.
